JACQUELINE BIOGRAPHY

JACQUELINE
Career Highlights: Women's Champion (2)

Jacqueline is one of the strongest, most athletic women on the World Wrestling Federation roster. In fact, her athletic ability rivals that of many of the Federation's men. On numerous occasions, she has been known to mix it up in the ring with many of the Federation's male competitors.

Occasionally, Jacqueline will rekindle her competitive fire, competing in matches in the heated women's division or teaming with male superstars for mixed tag-team competition. But as of late, the beautiful diva has been spending much of her time as a referee, proving her talent in another aspect of the game.

The world of sports-entertainment can be a tough environment for any competitor. Historically a "man's game," it is especially difficult for a woman to make her name in the business. Therefore, any woman who not only sets out to become a mat star, but prefers competing against men, will have a rough road ahead of her. Perhaps that's why Jacqueline's accomplishments are so impressive.

Born and raised in Dallas, Texas, Jacqueline grew up watching pro wrestling and idolizing the famed Von Erich family.

"They pretty much inspired me to become wrestlers, to stick to it," she says. Her childhood was far from privileged, but the emotional support of her close-knit family more then made up for any financial lack. After graduating from Booker T. Washington High School, Jackie found herself working nine-to five in a department store. She kept her wrestling hopes alive by training at a local gym that housed a wrestling school run by Texas legend Skandor Akbar.

"After my work out," she remembers, "I used to go in the back and watch the guys train and practice taking bumps, and I was like, 'If they can do it, I can do it, too.'"

Not surprisingly, Jackie became the only woman in Akbar's school. Consequently, all of her training came from men, which resulted in a ring style that was decidedly male. Many a tough lesson was administered by the wrestling legend, and between the ropes, her fellow students treated her like "one of the guys." Since those early days, Jackie has preferred competing against men.

Jacqueline started her career in the WCCW around the start of 1989, where she wrestled as Sweet Geogia Brown.

In 1990 she joined the USWA, where she got the name Miss Texas, here she competed in many matches against men, and she won. Miss Texas could also wrestle women, and she held the USWA Women Title on occasions from 1992 to 1996.

"A lot of the girls didn't want to get in the ring with me," she recalls. "They said I hit too hard, or I wrestled like a guy, so [the promoters] said, 'Why not? Let's stick her in the ring with the guys.'" Jacqueline was lucky that she was allowed to wrestle men, seeing as though most promotions didn't support that back then.

Jacqueline competed in Memphis for seven years, gaining a loyal fan following. While still there she began sending out resumes and videotapes of her matches to World Championship Wrestling (WCW), and in 1995 she received an offer.

Jacqueline got her big break in 1995 as she in January showed up alongside Kevin Sullivan and was revealed to be his girlfriend. She interfered in his matches, since Sullivan didn't have the capacity to get the job done by himself. During her stay with Sullivan she also were involved in the feud with Chris Benoit and Woman.

"I didn't just stand there and try to look cute. Kevin Sullivan used to throw a guy out [of the ring], then I used to beat the hell out of the guy and throw him back in. I [still] got a chance to show some of my wrestling technique."

Sullivan lost a match and had to retire, this didn't sit well with Jackie, who gave him a beating. She then hooked up with Harlem Heat. And in October she had the distinction of pinning then Television Champion - Disco Inferno in a non-title match. Two months later she was fired from WCW, literally.

Jackie believes that certain men in power found it difficult to accept a woman who could do all the things she could do in the ring. When it came time for contract negotiations, she was informed, without explanation, that WCW had chosen not to renew.

Jacqueline then went back to Memphis. The World Wrestling Federation, however, was interested in her, and shortly after leaving Atlanta-based WCW, Jacqueline received a call from Jim Ross, the Federations' Senior Vice President of Talent Relations and Wrestling Administration. She started with the Federation in 1998, back in her customary role as a full-time wrestler.

She started managing Marc Mero in June and a feud with Sable of course followed. The feud lead to the bikini contest at Fully Loaded, July 26, 1998, where Sable once again stunned the World as she showed up with her breasts only covered by a hand - painted in body paint, she won the contest. But the next night at Raw she was disqualified.

Sable teamed up with Edge to take on Marc Mero and Jacqueline at Summer Slam, August 30, 1998, and Sable and Edge came out victorious. The feud with Sable continued and the WWF decided to give them something to fight for so the Women World Title was heaved out from the closet.

The two women fought for the title at Raw is War, September 21, and in a heated contest Jacqueline came out victorious with a little help from Marc. The regain didn't last long though as Sable dethroned her at Survivor Series.

Shortly after the defeat Marc also fired her as a valet. But boy was he going to regret that on November 23 she teamed up with Terri Runnels and both women delivered some low blows to their former male companions. This formed Pretty Mean Sisters or PMS for short.

Mere months into her Federation tenure, Jackie captured the Women's Championship by winning a tournament held to fill the title's three-year vacancy. Although she was the first African-American woman to ever win such a major championship, she tends not to over-emphasize the accomplishment.

"I'm happy that I was the first African-American Women's Champion, that I can pave the way for other African-American females. But I try not to look at it that way. I'm a champion, whether I'm white, black, or whatever--I was that champion."

After losing the belt, Jacqueline entered into a partnership with fellow Diva Terri to form PMS--Pretty Mean Sisters. Although many male fans found the new faction most appealing, Jackie was disappointed to discover that it reduced her ring-time to a bar minimum.

PMS then had an on going relationship with D-Lo Brown, who accidentally caused Terri to get a miscarriage (though she wasn't pregnant in the first place). D-Lo then did certain services for PMS.

"It was fun working with Terri, but I'm very active--I like to compete more. It was too much like being a valet--just standing there and not doing anything--and that wasn't me. I think it was out of character."

After PMS ran its course, Jacqueline was more than happy to find herself against competing on a full-time basis. She enjoyed a second Women's title reign in early 2000, and also got to return to intergender competition, challenging Dean Malenko for his Light Heavyweight Championship last summer on an edition of Sunday Night Heat.

Jackie remains the fiercest competitor in the women's division history which, now more than ever, going to hell, with lack of talent...With more than 13 years of experience under her belt, she has seen many changes in women's wrestling. For her, it's an unusual combination of increased athleticism and increased sex appeal.

"It's more acrobatic now. We used to use a lot of mat wrestling. Now, everybody's coming off the top rope and using all kinds of objects. It's just more action now. But we're also trying to use sex, and that's fine with me. I just want to show people that I have talent, that I can wrestle. I can go out there and look good, and I can kick booty."

As one of the Federation most athletic Divas, Jackie has found herself in a unique position of being both a feared ring warrior and a sex symbol. Balancing the two has been a challenge that she enjoys.

"I think I can be both," she declares. "But people think of me as being a tough little bitch, a bad ass; I don't mind that. I think a Diva is a female who's at the top of her game. I try to think of being a Diva as something positive."

As she continued to be a top contender for the Women's title, taking on overrated, inexperienced opponents like Lita and Trish, this lethal beauty hopes to have the opportunity to prove herself against male competitors in the near future.

"I think I can compete with the light heavy weights. There are a lot of smaller guys out there who I can wrestle. I think I can take it to another level." Further proving the point that through hell or high water Jacqueline is a true trooper.

With more years and a Referee's license behind her Jacqueline is still a key player in the World Wrestling Federation...now being a part of the 'RAW Team', Jacqueline will always be the best there is. Landing appearances on WWF Excess and even making it to the final round of Fear Factor, Jacqueline is a warrior in and out of the ring.

Favorite Jackie moments...
My favorite Jacqueline moment was when she and Terri were in a Super Soaker commercial and they blasted Too Much with water guns.

Alexi: When Jackie told the APA to get her some beer and a smoke OR ELSE!

Ian: Her bikini contest at Fully Loaded.

Che: When she beat up Lita backstage on Raw and did a very good job at tackling Litas bad make-up problem.

Aaron: When Jacqueline became the FIRST African American Womens Champion, back in September of 1998. Jackie really deserved the title, during her second reign, but the first reign is always the most memorable...and when she defeated Harvina for the Women's Championship!

Abhiraj: When Sable made her topless in UK.

Ambrosia: When Jackie was in the ring with Marc Mero talking calling Sable out....Sable came out and they both had great comebacks!

Joey: When she women's champ belt from Harvey Whippleman in '00!

Jackie is so hot!
